How Simple Psychology can bring you Financial Freedom

·

,

You probably live live pay check to pay check. Most Americans today don’t save one dollar. Let’s talk about that.

Nothing. No savings. Zero prospects. A job that feels like pulling teeth.

Your number is $936 a week. Before taxes. That makes you average. Some of you are saying shaking your heads because you make like 400 or 500 a week. Or even less.

The working poor in America today our worse off than anywhere in the developed world.

Salary Levels in America are dipping…

Your annual income is roughly 48 thousand before taxes. Not so bad on paper. But that’s mean not median. What about the super rich who bend and skew the numbers?

Everyone gets left out in the cold.

25% of you make less than $10 an hour. You’re below the poverty line. Hard facts. That’s life in America right now. One in 4 Living in poverty.

Salaries are stagnant. Inflation is crippling homes. Interest rates are crushing your dreams. Kids are hungry. House is falling down. The cost of living in the U.S. is up 14% over the past 3 years.

Thanks covid.

Housing, healthcare, and education. Up, up and away. Safety and financial security are farther farther out of reach. This is the new reality.

Fact: A study by the National Low Income Housing Coalition found that there is no state or county in the U.S. where a worker earning the federal minimum wage can afford a two-bedroom rental home at fair market rent by working a standard 40-hour week.

Maybe its time to leave America?

Debt is strangling the majority of you.

According to data from the Federal Reserve, the average American household carries $137,063 in debt. Do the math, folks, quick, what’s 48 into 137?

Don’t forget taxes. That’s like 5 X the average take home income.

Plus, you’ve got student loans, credit card debt, auto loans, and house loans. So yeah, whats left of that 900 bucks a week after tax, goes straight to interest payments.

But what does that even mean for most of us?

Debt for life. Wage slavery is real. The banks that got bailed out by government a decade ago own you now.

Seriously, what are you gonna do?

This is America. Socialism is not coming to save you.

Dog eat dog. Every man, woman and child for themself.

There’s really only one way out of this hole…

You need more money. Or you need to leave America. Or both.

Here’s my solution.

The first thing I need you to do is visualize your debt.

Now write down the number in big block letters. Make it red.

Slap that stop sign on your fridge door. Put it where you’ll be forced to see it every day.

Next add the exact amount of interest you pay. Do the math. Get it right. This is the amount of hard earned income you flush down the toilet every month.

This is why banks and debt collectors are busy counting cash.

This will piss you off. This is loss aversion. Use your anger as fuel to make you hungry, to motivate your self. This is a nudge.

If you are complacent. It’s game over. You need to be angry enough about being broke to want to change. Take action now.

🤲🏽 Mahatma Gandhi said, “It’s not just words. Action expresses priorities.”

So you want to keep disposing of your income?

Go buy some crap thing that has no value. If it’s not a roof over your head, it’s not food, and it’s not love, it’s just crap. A dopamine fix. Your paying for an ego boost on credit. It’s got to stop.

Change your habits. Change your identity.

Start by closing your eyes. Visualize yourself retired on a beach. This is real.

You don’t need crap purchases to boost your ego and self worth. You’re good enough now.

Reward yourself with a laugh, exercise high or some netflix and chill. It’s free and calorie burning. Tiny physical rewards for yourself can create long term behavioural change. Positive reinforcement. This is a nudge.

Now close your eyes and picture a number. Not one hundred or one thousand or even a hundred thousand. A life changing number. Minimum seven figures.

Got your number?

Now ten x the number in your head. Don’t laugh. Don’t even grin. Be as serious about this number as I am.

This isn’t a joke.

This is your money and your life.

Don’t tell your number to another soul. It’s your secret. This is a promise to improve your relationship with money.

Now close your eyes and look at the number. It should be massive. Solid gold. Lit up like the Vegas strip. Flaming like a burning man in the desert.

From now on, whenever you doubt that you deserve to be rich, close your eyes and visualize this number. You deserve this number. No questions asked. You deserve to own your number. It is your number. It belongs to you. Anchor yourself to this number. This is a nudge.

Now that you have a goal, on to the next step.

Time to Nudge yourself into generating more income. Exponential income. You are going to be investing in yourself by doing LESS: Learn, Earn, Save and Sleep.

No more lotteries. No more meme stocks. No betting your savings on bitcoin. You deserve better that that crap. And if you’re still here, still listening, it’s because you’re sick of being average and broke and living pay check to pay check. You are ready to change your identity.

Time for a new you.

I was sent to remind you to stay hungry. Change your behaviour. Create new habits. And you will change your identity. The key is to start now. Don’t even watch the next video. Once this ends, turn off youtube. Forget about the algorithm feeding you more crap. Take action.

Don’t get me wrong or misquote me. You will have to sacrifice. There will be pain and suffering and failure along the road. No one said success is easy. Do not quit your job yet. Create a second source of income. And then a third. And then a fourth.

Let’s be clear.

First you learn, then you earn.

🤲🏽 earn | ərn | verb 1. obtain (money) in return for labor or services: 2. (of an activity) cause (someone) to obtain (money):

You have to act. You must become an actor, and your own agent of change.

This is when the excuses will hit. The doubt arrives.

Your past skeletons and vices reappear. Your shitty friends who want you to lose because they want company down in the hell of wage slavery.

Do not listen to them this time.

Close your eyes and picture your number.

Ask your self aloud: Do you want it or not?

What are your skills?

How can you add value to other’s lives?

How can you give?

Giving is the key. Start with labor, service and activity.

You can make something. Write, create, build. Be productive. Just do it. Act now.

Anything is possible.

I have a friend in Melbourne, Australia. She made dream weavers on her couch while she watched movies after work. These things started selling for a hundred bucks a pop. After a few months, she couldn’t make enough to meet the demand.

Time to hire her first employee. All of a sudden, she is a business owner.

Life can change fast when you become an actor. No more NPC. You are making a promise to yourself to go from wage slave to business owner.

Change your identity.

I can see the comments now. This is bullshit. I can’t do that crap. I don’t have time for that. It’s impossible. The math doesn’t add up. Bla bla bla. Wa wa wa.

Do you want it or not? Picture your number. Make it real.

This woman was a florist who wove decorations at night. This is not the lottery or rocket science. She capitalized on her skill, passion and perseverance. She became the author of her own success. Today she owns a beautiful house in Melbourne, Australia. She has a half dozen employees, a cool husband and a cute dog.

Make the change: Two businesses, one house. The new rich life is waiting for you. Look up Melbourne real estate prices. If this is a game, she is winning.

People will pay you to fix their problems.

Offer a solution. Start thinking about solutions to other people’s problems.

Stop worrying and start doing. Giving is the key. Start with labor, service and activity.

If you can’t make money online, by selling your skill or service, and you don’t have any knowledge to share by teaching or tutoring, go get your hands dirty.

Earn more money.

Walk people’s dogs. Clean their roofs. Wax and detail their cars. Empty their basements and attics.

You can tutor a child. So don’t tell me you can’t work online. You only need to be a grade 6 level at anything to teach a kid: English, basketball, swimming, math. Solve a parent’s problem. They will pay you cash.

You’re still a student?

What’s your best subject?

Tutor one of your peers. Tutor other students online. This is real. People pay for solutions to their problems.

Once you are making more money, set up an auto payment on your debt. That’s step one. Not all of the new money coming in, just enough that the big red number on your fridge gets smaller, not bigger.

Now for the long term plan.

You’re going to buy or start your own small business. Fuck doubt. Tell your fear to shut up. Your busy planning your future life by investing in yourself.

Four steps to financial freedom. You can do less and achieve more with a plan. Learn. Earn. Save. Sleep.

You don’t have to be creative. You have to be dogged, persistent and hard working.

No quitting.

No breaks.

No holidays.

If you’re lazy, get lost. I cannot help you and I don’t want to. But if you want to show up every day and bet on yourself. If you want to invest in something risky, go look in the mirror. The biggest risk of failure is you.

You are the bottleneck.

Now go ask for help. Find a mentor. A plumber. An HVAC guy. A videographer or photographer. The baby boomer who runs the café down the street. Anyone who is making a profit by helping other people.

Do you think you’re too good to take wedding photos or write grant proposals? You don’t want it bad enough yet.

Change your behaviour.

Change your mind.

Your broke, but you want to be in real estate and property and management?

Sounds impossible?

That’s your self doubt. Shut it down.

Now think about reality outside of your ears. The property manager of your building has to retire sometime. Tell them you want to apprentice under them with the goal of doing a seller financed purchase of their business in three to five years when they retire.

What’s that you say?

Go watch a video on financing. Then do the work.

Learn and earn. Educate your self. Everything is online, for free, waiting for you. Forget about another degree or college equivalence. Learn now. Save later.

The average small business owner in America is 50.

Think about the facts.

They’re not going to work forever. They’re not going to live forever. 50% of small business owners in America will retire in the next decade. Half of the businesses in America are just waiting for you to take ownership and profit.

Millions of businesses will change hands.

Are you gonna be so lazy that you let these places close down? Someone else already did the hard work of being a founder. You just have to learn to be an operator and owner, then earn the profits and save while you sleep.

If you can’t start your own business because you don’t have the guts, or the education, or the know how, you need to find a mentor right now.

Go work for someone who’s already done the work. Learn their trade, gain their trust, and then make a deal.

This is how you go from being broke to being an owner with a few simple nudges.

You change your mind.

You change your habits.

Now close your eyes and picture the flames feeding the fire. Picture your number burning above the darkness of the desert below.

Thanks for reading.

I write copy & content. I teach courses. I show up everyday.

But I do LESS. Learn. Earn. Save. Sleep.
